Final Blog Post

When I was in the seat that you were currently in, I came to this class with a company. Relative to my peers, I had been experiencing the real world for two years already. I conducted business, worked with people and made projects with ridiculous deadlines. Now I am expanding my company to become a fully functioning organization. I felt like I would not be able to relate with a class ment for graduating seniors, as I was already within the world they look forward too. However, as the class continued, I was still able to find engagement with the course and take appreciation in the effort that Dr. Wilkes takes to get students ready for what challenges the real world has to offer. There were three major aspects of his classroom that I think were very important to know. Firstly, patents are powerful tools used by companies to protect themselves and attack others. These documents are symbols of power among those who can take advantage of them. Learn them and you will be all the more deadly in the innovative world. The second aspect was that those who know the news can make it. Investment traders often remark that the news indicates decision and influences action. If you know what the news will say and how people will react, you have an indicator for the future. Learn how to get the news and then learn people. Lastly, realize that our government is not all sunshine and rainbows. Even though they do make important changes, and function on a global scale, they are still incredibly corrupt and those that expose them will risk everything to seek the truth. I would like to leave you with some important advice so that you can really learn something from this class. That advice would be to take the tools from this class rather than just the information being given. Learn how to find news, look at the structure of a company rather than a job, investigate to find the truth, and look at innovation to get a glimpse of the future. At the end of this course you are going to be left to your own devices and it is going to be up to you to determine if you change or not. I wish you the best of luck.
